When Disney Plus was launched in November 2019, it was available for a seven-day free trial. However, the option was removed in early 2020.

The “with ads” Disney Plus Basic ($7.99 per month) and the “no ads” Disney Plus Premium ($13.99 per month) are the two Disney Plus subscription packages that viewers can select from.
Disney Plus Basic is not available for purchase on an annual basis, but you may save money on the ad-free Premium version by purchasing an annual subscription for $139.99. This represents a savings of over $27 over a year, giving you access to the program for the cost of ten months.
You can stream Disney Plus episodes and films in 4K on as many as four devices simultaneously with one of the aforementioned options. It’s important to remember, too, that you cannot download Disney Plus material to your device for offline viewing with the Basic subscription tier. This means that to take advantage of the televisual treats the streamer has to offer, you must always have a working internet connection.

But things are changing in the United States. Disney Plus, which debuted in December 2023 as a unified “one-app experience” streamer, will merge with Walt Disney Company stablemate Hulu at some point in 2024 (specific date to be determined).
Disney Plus and Hulu will still be offered separately in the US, but with this new 2-in-1 option, the redesigned platform will undoubtedly be a stronger competitor to streaming giants like Netflix, Max, and Prime Video. Additionally, it will align the upgraded platform with those of the UK and Australia, wherein Disney Plus users get access to a wider selection of films and TV series through the Disney Plus Star service.

Additionally, Disney CEO Bob Iger disclosed that the business is “actively exploring” measures to stop users from sharing their Disney Plus accounts.
There isn’t a specific date yet for this Netflix-style transition in the US or the UK, but according to Nasdaq, Disney Plus changed its subscription terms for Canadian customers in November. According to reports, unless their account tier permits it, these modifications prohibit password sharing with households other than the account holder’s principal residence.

On February 23, 2021, Star on Disney Plus debuted outside of the US in countries like the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
While US viewers can access a wider variety of entertainment from the numerous production companies under Disney’s expansive corporate umbrella by subscribing to Hulu, another Disney-owned streamer, Star offers Disney Plus subscribers in other regions access to a plethora of extra content from companies such as FX, 20th Century Studios, and ABC.
When Disney Plus subscribers in nations offering the Star service login to their home screen, more adult fare like 24, Lost, Atlanta, Desperate Housewives, the Die Hard, Alien, and Predator franchises (including the most recent prequel Prey), and in the UK, The Walking Dead, support the typical family-friendly core content (Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Pixar, and National Geographic).
Some of the most popular new TV series on the planet, including The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and A Murder at the End of the World, have debuted on Disney Plus Star. The volume and quality of Disney Plus’s Star content in the UK make the service a strong competitor to streaming services like Netflix.

Up to 10 registered devices and up to four simultaneous streams are currently supported with a Disney Plus membership; however, starting in November, UK users on the Standard tiers will only be able to watch two at a time. Additionally, you can set up to seven accounts for other users on your account, each of which can set up a custom watch list.
Disney Plus offers a variety of age ratings for its material, so you can set up kid-specific profiles that block anything that isn’t appropriate for younger family members.

With the help of the SharePlay feature on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs, subscribers to Disney Plus may enjoy media with their loved ones.
While on a FaceTime chat, SharePlay allows up to 32 individuals to watch the same movie or TV show concurrently. However, each Disney Plus account is still only allowed to stream four videos at once. Additionally, users can choose their preferred audio settings, and individual subscribers can add subtitles if needed.
SharePlay is “only available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV with the latest system update,” according to Disney Plus, so users of older devices might not be able to utilize this feature.
Disney Plus movies and TV series will no longer be available for you to watch with friends if you’re not an Apple user or are using outdated software. On September 18, 2023, the streaming service discontinued GroupWatch, as IGN reported.
A notice on the Disney Plus support center stated, “The GroupWatch feature will no longer be available on Disney+ as of September 18th, 2023.” “We’re always working to deliver the best product experience on Disney Plus, and as part of recent updates, the GroupWatch feature was removed.”
