- After that, bake in the oven for ten minutes with a pan of boiled water resting on the bottom rack. Remove the water and bake until golden brown.
DON’T FRIGHT! The dough will be indeed sticky and that’s perfectly still. To make handling it simpler, ensure the work surface is well-floured or wet your hands occasionally throughout the shaping process.

- Use the appropriate flour. To achieve the best texture, use flour with higher protein content.
King Arthur Flour and Bob’s Red Mill are two of my favorites. Typically, any other brand will suffice.
- Using a very sharp knife to score the top. Scoring or slicing the top of a baguette isn’t just for show. When you first shape your bread, you create a very taut surface.
When you put your baguette in the oven without scoring the top, the heat causes a burst of gas called an “oven spring,” which can rupture the top and destroy the shape of the bread.
- Thaw and reheat your baguette. I like to bake several loaves of bread at once and freeze a couple for later use. Reheat them in the oven and they’ll taste just like freshly baked bread!
- Check to see if your yeast is fresh. This common blunder occurs to the best of us. Active yeast deactivates and loses its ability to make your bread rise and fluff over time. Always check the label to ensure it is not out of date!

- 6 cup all-purpose flour (depending on the brand, you may need to add more flour)
- 3 cups lukewarm water

- Firstly, combine all ingredients together the night before. Blend the dry ingredients together and then add water. Combine the ingredients until the dough comes together.
- Then, cover with a plastic wrap and let it sit for 12-20 hours on the countertop.
- The dough should be wet, sticky, and bubbly the next day. Spread enough flour on your hands and on the baking sheet.
- After that, take the dough (if it sticks, apply more flour to your hands) and form a baguette shape. Put it on a baking sheet and sprinkle an ample amount of flour on it. Score the top with a sharp knife and cover it with a towel. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
- After that, preheat the oven to 450 °F. You need 2 shelves in an oven. Fill a deep cooking sheet with 2 cups of hot boiled water, and place it on a lower level, inside your oven. This helps the bread to be crispy on the outside.
